Should I Pay Down My Mortgage Every Month and Try to Pay off My Mortgage?

Should I pay down my mortgage every month and try to pay off my mortgage? There are different schools of thought and the right decision depends on your financial situation. It used to be that your parents would tell you to pay down your mortgage as fast as possible.  You can be debt free and no longer have monthly payments. It’s more complicated than that.  With today’s low mortgage interest rates, you may get a higher return on your money in other investments or perhaps you need a tax write off or you can use your money to leverage to buy other properties.

Are You Ready to Buy a Home?

Image
Your parents did it. Your friends are doing it. But how do you know if you’re ready to buy a home? The decision to become a homeowner is a personal one that must be based on your life situation and finances. Ask yourself these six questions to determine if you’re real estate-ready. 1. Can I afford it? Homeownership brings with it many new expenses. Beyond your mortgage, you’ll be paying for insurance, utilities and taxes, not to mention maintenance costs and perhaps homeowner’s association fees. If you don’t already have a budget, start one. It will help you manage your money, your spending and help you understand how much you can afford for a home.

Unspoken Code of Conduct for Flips and Sales

When a realtor helps you make money and grow wealth, naturally when you decide to sell, you would use the realtor who helped you begin/continue your path to wealth. There's an unspoken rule when it comes to investments and flips - you typically use the agent who negotiated the initial purchase and often at a great price to help you sell at a substantial profit.
